Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about joining, training, and competing with Glacier Aquatic Club.

📝 Joining & Registration

How do I sign my child up?
It's a two-step process:
  1. Evaluation: Schedule a quick pool session with Coach Dave to find the right group.
  2. Registration: Once assigned a group, you'll complete the online registration form.
See "Join the Team" page »
What are the "Three Memberships"?
Competitive swimming requires three separate fees:
  • GAC Dues: Monthly coaching fees.
  • USA Swimming: Annual insurance/league fee.
  • Facility Pass: Membership to Logan Health or The Wave.
Do I get a discount at the gym?
Yes! Both Logan Health and The Wave typically offer specific membership options for GAC swimmers (ages 13 & under). Please contact their front desks directly and mention GAC.

🏊 Practice & Training

Which pool do we go to?
We run concurrent practices at both locations. You can choose the one most convenient for your family:
  • Kalispell: Logan Health Medical Fitness
  • Whitefish: The Wave Aquatic Center
What equipment do I need?
At minimum: A suit, goggles, and a cap. As swimmers advance to Silver/Gold, they will need fins, snorkels, and paddles. See Equipment List in Handbook »

Meets & Commitments

What is the volunteer requirement?
Families must contribute 2 hours per month (max 22/year) to help run meets. Unfulfilled hours are billed at $50/hr. You can also become an Official to fulfill hours!
How many meets do we have to do?
Swimmers generally attend 3 meets in Winter (Short Course) and 3 in Summer (Long Course). Parents choose which meets to sign up for via the Events page.
